Bosun Tijani is Nigeria’s Minister of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy

Tech guru Bosun Tijani has bagged a ministerial appointment as Nigeria’s Minister of Communications, Innovations and Digital Economy.

Despite the strict oppositions from lawmakers that loomed over his ministerial screening and the Twitter drama that followed, Bosun Tijani has made the final list of ministerial appointees.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu released a list of portfolios allocated to his ministerial nominees on Wednesday. The list was announced to journalists by the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale.

The new list which includes immediate past governors, past senators, industrialists and more, named Bosun Tijani as The Minister of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy. Notable PR guru, Mohammed Idris was also named Minister of Information and National Orientation .

Now Minister of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy, Tijani is a tech entrepreneur and investor. He is CEO and co-founder of one of the most influential tech incubators on the continent, the CcHub.

The 46 year old techie has led the expansion of CcHub across Nigeria, Kenya, and more recently, Namibia. From its humble beginnings in Yaba, CcHub has grown to become a significant catalyst for tech advancement in Africa by empowering young people with the tools, communities, and capital they need to launch impactful ventures

Tijani’s appointment marks a new level of validation for the tech space as this is the first time that a pivotal member of Nigeria’s tech ecosystem will be getting a cabinet position.

Mohammed Idris on the other hand is an accomplished media entrepreneur, Publisher, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Blueprint newspaper.

The 57-year-old native of Niger State holds a Master’s Degree in English from Bayero University, Kano State.

He is a Fellow of the Nigeria Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), a philanthropist, political leader and public relations expert.

He is currently serving in the capacity of the Chairman and Lead Consultant of Bifocal Communications Limited, a leading public relations company, since 1996.

As a media expert, Idris had attended several local and international workshops and conferences on public relations, media entrepreneurship and leadership.

While more and more portfolios are announced, and celebrated, a date is yet to be announced for the inaugural ceremony for the President’s newly formed cabinet.
