Asus Zenbook S 13 OLED Review: The MacBook Air for Windows users

Weighing significantly less than the MacBook Air, the ASUS Zenbook s 13 OLED is a clear winner when it comes to portability.

Asus has unveiled its latest laptop, the Zenbook S 13 OLED, which is being hailed as an excellent alternative to the MacBook Air for Windows users. The 2023 model is even thinner and lighter than its predecessor, weighing just 2.2 pounds and measuring less than half an inch thick. Despite its slim profile, the Zenbook maintains a sturdy build and performs well, making it a standout choice.

The device’s lightweight design is certainly one of its standout features. Weighing significantly less than both the previous iteration and the MacBook Air, it’s a clear winner when it comes to portability. Moreover, it boasts a sleek, thin form factor that makes it one of the slimmest laptops on the market today – an attribute that only serves to expand its range of usefulness.

The Zenbook S 13 OLED presents a stunning high-resolution OLED display that renders vivid and saturated colors along with plenty of brightness. Despite its marvel, the screen’s only inadequacy is the tendency to reflect glare when exposed to stronger illumination. However, when situated in dull or poorly lit atmospheres, the display surpasses expectations and executes an incredible performance.

Despite its slimness, the Zenbook manages to maintain a robust port selection, including HDMI, Thunderbolt 4, USB-C, USB-A, and a headphone jack. The inclusion of an HDMI port is particularly appreciated, as some laptops have started to omit it.

Internally, the Zenbook houses Intel’s 13th Gen Core i7 processor, providing solid performance for everyday tasks. The top configuration offers 32GB of RAM and 1TB of storage, making it a competitive option in terms of specifications and pricing.

Battery life is a standout feature of the Zenbook S 13 OLED, with an average usage time of over eight and a half hours. This impressive longevity is comparable to the MacBook Air, which has been difficult to match in the Windows market.

While the Zenbook S 13 OLED has a few minor flaws, such as average speakers and a trackpad that occasionally depresses unintentionally, its overall package of performance, screen quality, port selection, specs, and battery life surpasses that of many pricier alternatives.
