ASUS Vivobook Pro 14X OLED (N7400) review: The truly perfect device for content creators

As a creative professional whose work relies majorly on working with actual and real-life colours, uses Adobe editing software, and also does not want to rely on a Mac OS ecosystem, the ASUS Vivobook Pro 14X OLED (N7400) is a viable option. Display

The Vivobook Pro 14X has got a gorgeous 2.8K OLED display with a 90Hz refresh rate. It comes with a 16:10 aspect ratio instead of 16:9, which is nice. The 2.8K OLED NanoEdge display on Vivobook Pro 14X OLED (N7400) comes with a super-bright 600-nit panel, ultra-high contrast ratio, and ultra-slim bezels that give it an 86% screen-to-body ratio. The ultrawide 100% DCI-P3 color gamut ensures vivid colors and it’s also PANTONE® Validated for professional-grade color accuracy. TÜV Rheinland certification for low blue-light emissions makes it easy on the user’s eyes too.

Design

With a premium look and feel, this device has a metal build with a metallic logo badge on the lid with ASUS Vivobook branding on it. The keyboard has a combination of white and grey with special highlights on the Enter and ESC keys. ASUS put a Single Sign On fingerprint sensor on top of the power button, unlocking the laptop is with ease. 

Another interesting design element is the virtual DialPad, a virtual dial that you activate on the ClickPad by swiping from the right corner. By default, this DialPad lets users change the brightness and volume levels, but it can be customized for other functionalities. It is also compatible with Adobe software such as Photoshop, After Effects, and Premiere.

Input 

ASUS Vivobook Pro 14X OLED (N7400) comes with plenty of connectivity options to keep the creators happy. There is a USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A port, a USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-C port, two USB 2.0 Type-A ports, an HDMI 1.4 port, a 3.5mm audio jack, and a microSD card reader. There is also WiFi 6 and Bluetooth 5. The audio is taken care of by a set of stereo speakers certified by Harman Kardon. 

DialPad

A special feature of VivoBook Pro 14X OLED is the ASUS DialPad – a virtual version of the ASUS Dial rotary controller of the new ProArt StudioBooks, which is integrated into the touchpad. The keyboard has a very distinct design, with some clear colour coding for different groups of keys. It also has an SSO fingerprint. Swiping inwards from the top right corner of the generous-in-size touchpad enables the brand new DialPad. Once activated, it has the same UI and functionality as the Studiobook physical dial. The exclusive DialPad allows precise and intuitive control of creative tools.
