Apple unveils iPhone15 Pro Max, other top line devices at event

At its launch event, Apple unveiled the iPhone 15 series, the new Apple Watch Series 9 smartwatch and other exciting updates!

Apple’s launch event tagged “Wonderlust” took place on Tuesday, September 12th 2013, and was streamed live from Apple Park in California. 

The event featured the unveiling of top line products from Apple with improved features and accessories. 

Apple also announced expanded satellite safety features to provide aid to users who need roadside assistance when first responders aren’t necessary.

Roadside Assistance

The new feature works via Satellite and it operates in much the same way. With a compatible phone limited to iPhone 14 and iPhone 15 models, users can text Roadside Assistance which will ask  a series of questions to get needed aid.

Other products unveiled include:

Apple Watch Series 9 

Apple has just unveiled the new Apple Watch Series 9 smartwatch.

One very unique feature of the smartwatch is that it is completely carbon neutral.

Explaining that the new smartwatch is its first 100 percent carbon neutral product, Apple loaded the watch with the following;

  •  a new S9 chip 
  •  “all-day” 18 hour battery life.
  • A screen peak brightness of 2000 nits, 
  • New “double tap” feature: users can double tap”  to answer calls and perform other actions.

According to Apple,  the smartwatch will support Siri requests on the device without requiring them to be sent to the cloud.

It will also support checking health data with Siri in English and Mandarin using the user’s voice.

Apple has finally dropped the use of leather in its products and introduced a new fabric called FineWoven with 68 percent post-consumer materials.

Price: Apple Watch Series 9 model is priced at $399.

Apple Watch Ultra 2 

The new Apple Watch Ultra has similar features as the Apple Watch Series 9.

Unique features include

  • it has a peak brightness of 3,000 nits (the highest ever on an Apple Watch)
  •  It features a modular watch face to take advantage of the new display technology. 
  • It offers the same 36 hours of battery life which can further be extended using Low Power Mode just like its predecessor.

The Apple Watch Ultra pricing starts at $799.

iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 plus

The new iPhone 15 introduced with the Dynamic Island technology from the company’s previous generation Pro models.

Debuted last year on the iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max, Dynamic Island is the animated feature at the top of the screen that gives contextual information.

The display on the 15 series has a peak brightness of 2,000 nits. 

The iPhone 15 has a 6.1-inch display screen while the iPhone 15 Plus has a 6.7-inch display screen. 

iPhone 15 features a new 48-megapixel primary camera.

It is equipped with a 48-megapixel primary sensor, and a new 2x telephoto zoom.

The company mentioned that it will also bring an improved portrait mode that will use machine learning to automatically switch on portrait mode when clicking images of human and animal subjects.

iPhone 15 is equipped with Apple’s A16 Bionic chip that was introduced on the iPhone 14 Pro handsets last year. 

It also features a second generation ultra wide band chip (UWB). 

Apple says the iPhone15 can be used to find your friends in a crowded place. 

Apple has introduced the USB Type-C port with the iPhone 15,  making it the first iPhone to have a USB Type-C port.

Price: iPhone 15 starts at $799 in the US while the base iPhone 15 Plus model is priced at $899.

iPhone15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max

The highly anticipated iPhone15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max were unveiled  with unique and interesting features:

  • Grade 5 titanium chassis 

iPhone15 comes embodied in the same material used on NASA’s Mars rover 

  • .Display screen 

iPhone 15 comes with a 6.1-inch display, while the iPhone 15 Pro Max has a larger 6.7-inch screen.

  • Weight 

The devices will be lighter thanks to the switch away from stainless steel to platinum

  • ‘Action’ button’

iPhone 15 Pro drops the  mute switch button for an action button.

Apple’s new ‘Action’ button that can be used to toggle silent or ring modes by simple ‘press and hold’ action.

It can also be programmed to perform other tasks like quickly starting a voice recording.

  • ‘A17 Pro’ chip 

iPhone15Pro debuts the new A17 Pro chip.

According to Apple, the new chip is equipped with a new architecture to support 35 trillion operations per second.

It also has an improved GPU performance for ray tracing. 

  • Faster USB performance

The handset is also equipped with a USB controller that can function for charging and transferring data.

The USB supports up to 10 gigabit transfer speed.

  • Super function camera 

The new iPhone 15 Pro is built with an improved 48-megapixel primary camera that has 24mm, 28mm, and 38 mm lens modes. 

It has a 12-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera and 12-megapixel 3x telephoto camera.

The iPhone 15 Pro Max has a 5x telephoto camera with 120mm focal length powered by a periscope camera setup.

  • Spatial Video capture

iPhone15 Pro can capture Spatial Videos for the Apple Vision Pro headset

The cameras on the iPhone 15 Pro are capable of capturing advanced high-resolution videos that can be played on Apple’s first spatial computer, the Vision Pro.

The Vision Pro will go on sale in selected markets next year.

Pricing 

Apple has announced, the iPhone 15 Pro will be sold at a starting price of $999,

 The iPhone 15 Pro Max will however start at a higher price point of $1,999 .  

The wide difference is assumed to be due to the new periscope camera setup on the iPhone15 Pro Max.

Apple has announced that pre-orders will kick off this Friday and the devices will hit the stores from next week.
