Apple spent its Oct. 13 event on the rooms you actually live in. It announced a $299 smart display called HomeView, a new Apple TV 4K, a second HomePod mini and a line of cameras, locks and thermostats built with LG and Schneider Electric. HomeView and the new Apple TV run Siri AI, Apple’s rebuilt assistant that can hold a conversation and answer general questions, not just set timers.
The short version
- HomeView is a $299 screen with a 7-inch display and a speaker base. It recognizes up to six faces, so each person gets their own Home Screen. It arrives Nov. 13.
- The new Apple TV 4K costs $299, up from $129 when the last model launched in 2022. It also arrives Nov. 13.
- HomePod mini 2 costs $149, up from $99 for the original, and arrives Oct. 30. Siri AI comes to it later in a software update.
- If you already own an Apple TV 4K from 2021 or later, you get Siri AI as a free beta update.
- Apple’s new LG cameras save video to your iCloud+ storage plan, so there’s no separate camera subscription.

HomeView: a screen for the kitchen counter
HomeView pairs a 7-inch display with a domed speaker base, joined by a hinge so you can tilt it. Apple says the screen gets as bright as 500 nits, a measure of brightness, for a sunny kitchen and dims to 0.3 nits so it won’t light up a bedroom at night. It shows simpler information when you’re across the room and more detail as you walk closer.
The headline feature is that it knows who is standing in front of it. HomeView recognizes up to six people by face and switches to each person’s own Home Screen, messages, calendar and reminders, while shared photo albums and music stay open to everyone. It runs on Apple’s A18 chip, and Apple says camera and microphone data is processed in a protected area of the chip, kept apart from the rest of the system.

It comes in silver, starlight, rose pink and space gray. A wall-mounted version in space gray and silver costs the same $299, but needs one of three Schneider Home mounts: from $59.95 for a USB-C wall connector, from $79.95 for a mount wired into your home’s power, or $129.95 for a Power over Ethernet mount that arrives in early 2027.
The downside: Siri AI can only pull from your messages, calendar and other apps when HomeView is paired with an iPhone or iPad that supports Apple Intelligence. On an older iPhone, you get a smart speaker with a screen, not the full personal assistant Apple showed on stage.
Apple TV 4K: faster, hands-free and much pricier

The new Apple TV 4K runs on the A19 chip, which Apple says brings up to 50 percent faster processing and up to twice the graphics speed of the last model. It adds a dedicated decoder for AV1, a video format that streams in high quality using less internet data, and three far-field microphones, so you can say “Siri” from the couch without picking up the remote.
The remote finally gets Find My with Precision Finding, which points you to it when it slips into the sofa, plus an option to make it play a sound. Pair the new box with four HomePod mini 2 or second-generation HomePod speakers, set up as matching front and rear pairs, and you get surround sound that calibrates itself to where each speaker sits.
The downside: the price. The previous Apple TV 4K launched at $129 in 2022, and this one costs $299, the same as HomeView.
What changes for you: if you own an Apple TV 4K from the second generation (2021) onward, you don’t need the new box to get Siri AI. Apple says it arrives as a beta in tvOS 27.2 for those models too. One catch from Apple’s fine print: the person who owns the home in the Home app needs an iPhone or iPad that supports Apple Intelligence, running the latest software with Siri AI turned on.
HomePod mini 2: $149, with Siri AI coming later

HomePod mini 2 keeps the round shape but costs $149, up from the $99 the original sold for. It comes in pink, green, blue, white and midnight. It runs on the S10 chip, recognizes up to six people by voice, and can work as a speaker for a Mac. A new feature called Sound Glow turns the top into a light that pulses with the music, with colors pulled from the album art. It can also listen for a smoke or carbon monoxide alarm and alert your iPhone and Apple Watch if one goes off.
The downside: Siri AI isn’t there on day one. Apple says it will arrive on HomePod mini 2 in a future software update, without giving a date.
Apple Home Collection: cameras and locks without a camera subscription

Apple Home Collection is a set of accessories designed with LG Electronics and Schneider Electric: four LG cameras including a video doorbell, a smart deadbolt, thermostats and temperature sensors. You set each one up by tapping it with your iPhone, and everything runs in the Apple Home app, with no separate app or account. The LG cameras record up to 2.5K video and can recognize people, familiar faces, pets, vehicles and packages.
- LG Video Doorbell Wired: $249.95
- LG Floodlight Cam: $399.95
- LG Outdoor Cam Plug-In: $299.95
- LG Indoor Cam Plug-In: $199.95
- LG Smart Deadbolt Lock: $349.95
- LG Smart Thermostat and Schneider Home Smart Thermostat: $199.95 each
- LG Temperature Sensor and Schneider Home Room Sensor: $39.95 each
The upshot: instead of a monthly camera plan, recorded video lives in your iCloud+ storage. Apple’s fine print says the 50GB plan covers one camera, 200GB covers up to five and 2TB covers as many as you like. At Apple’s current US prices of $0.99, $2.99 and $9.99 a month, one LG Outdoor Cam on the 50GB plan works out to about $335.59 over three years, including the camera. Our security camera guide runs the same math for today’s best cameras. The accessories also need a home hub, such as HomeView, a HomePod or an Apple TV, to unlock most features.
Where you can buy them
HomeView pre-orders opened Oct. 13 in the US, Canada, the UK, Australia, New Zealand and India. Singapore opens Oct. 15, and South Africa sells it through Apple Authorized Resellers. Apple says it won’t sell HomeView in the European Union for now, because Siri AI isn’t available on iPhones there. Siri AI itself works in English in the US, Australia, Canada, India, New Zealand, Singapore, South Africa and the UK. Nigeria isn’t on either list yet.
Full details are in Apple’s HomeView announcement.
Should you pre-order?
- Own an Apple TV 4K from 2021 or later? Wait. Siri AI comes to your box as a free update, so the $299 model is mainly about speed, the hands-free microphones and the Find My remote.
- Want a kitchen screen and use a recent iPhone? HomeView is the product Apple built this event around, and recognizing each person in the house by face is its standout feature.
- Just want better sound in one room? HomePod mini 2 is the cheapest way in, but the new Siri isn’t on it yet.
- Shopping for cameras? Hold off until December, when the LG cameras ship and real-world reviews arrive.
We haven’t used any of these products yet. Everything here comes from Apple’s announcements on Oct. 13, 2026, and we’ll update this story as the products ship.
