Apple Working On A Foldable Hybrid Device.

Apple Event: Will Apple tease its foldable hybrid?

Apple is working on a device that is out of the normal for the company. A 20″ hybrid foldable device is expected in the coming years.

Apple has often been criticized as a company that lacks innovation in terms of hardware design. Most of the time, a new iPhone or iPad looks and feels the same as its predecessors.

For instance, when the iPhone 8 series was released, it was dubbed the iPhone 7 series reincarnate – but with a new chipset. Likewise, The iPad 8th generation shared the same design as its predecessor, the iPad 7th generation.

If design is not exactly your cup of tea, you may not be able to point out the differences between certain Apple devices. However, iPhone critics say that only the chip is upgraded and camera sensors improved, leaving the external stuff repetitive. Some argue that other smartphone manufacturers put a lot of effort into refining not only software or internal components but also the hardware of their devices. Newer innovations are made, and smartphones are even being designed to “fold in halves.”

New reports prove that Apple’s seeming nonchalant attitude towards design innovation is changing for the good as the company is now working on a foldable hybrid device that will be somewhere between a MacBook and an iPad.

A Massive 20″ Foldable Hybrid From Apple

The Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Fold gives a picture of what Apple aims to produce.

According to a Bloomberg post by Mark Gurman, the ‘upcoming’ foldable hybrid from Apple is not a phone, but a 20″ workstation. The device is expected to come with a keyboard and mouse tracker, as would a MacBook. While Apple is set to host its first event of 2022 in a few hours, there are no indications whatsoever that this hybrid will be on display as it is not expected to launch for another  4-ish years.

Still, we will not put it past Apple to make insinuations and make the likes of Samsung and Lenovo feel a little heat. A closer look at the already existing Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Fold will give a clearer picture of what to expect from Apple. This device from Lenovo house a 13.3” foldable display which when unfolded props up as a desktop computer but when folded becomes a laptop. In terms of size, Lenovo’s 13.3″ foldable desktop device will squeal before Apple’s said 20″ foldable hybrid.

While we wait for a glimmer of confirmation from Apple about this foldable workstation, we are curious about a few things. Will it be available in all regions? How practical is this device? It is good to know that Apple is coming out of its shell to face innovation. We will wait to see how all of this turns out.
