You can ask Google to remove search results that show your phone number, home address or email address, and in some countries your government ID numbers. It is free, and it takes about five minutes to set up with Google’s Results about you tool.
Here is how it works, what it can and cannot do, and what to do if the tool is not available where you live.
What can Google remove for free?
- Your phone number
- Your home address
- Your email address
- Government ID numbers such as a passport, driver’s license or Social Security number. Google added these in February 2026, starting in the US.
Google can also remove explicit images of you that were shared without your consent, and some other personal details through a separate request form.
How to use Results about you, step by step
- Open the Google app, tap your profile photo and choose Results about you. On a computer, go to goo.gle/resultsaboutyou.
- Tap Get started and sign in to your Google account.
- Enter your name and the contact details you want Google to look for. You can add nicknames, a maiden name, and more than one phone number, address or email.
- Choose whether you want alerts. Turn them on: Google will tell you when a new result with your details shows up.
- Open the To review tab. For each result with your details, choose Request to remove.
- Watch your email. Google confirms each request and shows its status, approved, denied or in progress, under Removal requests.
Approved results can take a few hours to disappear from Search.
What Google will not remove
- The page itself. Removing a result from Google does not delete the page from the internet. People can still find it on the website or through other search engines. To get it taken down, contact the website owner.
- Public records and news. Results from government, school and news websites are often refused.
- Information about someone under 18. Requests for a child go through a separate Google form.
Is Results about you available where I live?
Google is rolling the tool out country by country for users over 18, and the ID number feature started in the US. If you cannot see Results about you in your Google app, the tool may not be available in your country yet. You can still ask Google to remove personal details using the request form on Google’s Results about you help page.
