IFA 2014: Acer Unveils 3 Tablets, Promises $50 Smartphone by 2015

Acer has added three new tablets, the Iconia Tab 8W, the Iconia Tab 10 and the Iconia One 8 to its line of tablets at the IFA 2014.

The Iconia Tab 8W is an 8-inch tablet that runs Windows 8.1, the Iconia Tab 10 features a 10.1-inch display and runs Android 4.4, while the Iconia One 8 with an 8-inch screen also runs Android 4.4.

The Tab 8W also joins the league of the cheap windows tablets as it will sell for about $200. It features a quad-core Intel Atom processor clocked at 1.33GHz, an 8-inch IPS display with a 1,280 x 800 pixel resolution, two speakers, microSD, microHDMI and microUSB ports. Acer’s Windows tablet will go on sale in Europe in October and across America in November.

Acer also added that a whole new range of smartphones that will cost less than $50 will hit the market by 2015. There is no detail about Acer’s offering with this very cheap smartphone. Acer isn’t a big player in the smartphone ecosystem but if the company believes that it can penetrate the market with such cheap device…… well lets just wait and see. 2015 is just around the corner.
