Youtuber? You should try this new YouTube Shorts feature

YouTube Shorts new edit feature

YouTube Shorts, a feature that mimics TikTok short-form video standard, is now getting a new feature. Creators on YouTube will be able to create a short video directly from their longer YouTube videos. This editing feature is now available on the YouTube Studio application for creators.

The roll-out of this feature started last month, and YouTube took to its community website to announce this roll-out. This feature will only be available on the Studio application for Android and iOS devices. It will help creators cut certain parts of their long (standard) videos and edit them into short-form videos.

According to YouTube, this feature will help curators engage with their audience differently. Each edit will have a time limit of 60 seconds, and the curator can choose to add a short clip as long as it doesn’t exceed the time limit. Each YouTube Shorts video got with the help of this feature will link back to the original video. This will help the curator engage the massive audience that goes to YouTube solely for the short form videos.

Short tutorials, quick funny lines from skits, and useful focus points in videos are some ways creators can utilize this feature.

To use this feature on your YouTube channel, tap the “Create Short” icon on the like and dislike button line (just below the video). Once you tap on it, you’d see an option list, select the “edit into short” option and start editing. Once ready, move on to post it to your YouTube Shorts video catalogue.
