WhatsApp voice note status update is coming!

WhatsApp New Privacy Policy

A few Android beta testers have begun using a new WhatsApp feature that enables voice notes to be sent as status updates. The function enables you to upload status updates using audio or voice notes and allows you specify who is permitted to listen to your audio or VN status. The new feature is located in the status tab where you would typically upload a video, photo or text update. The speech or VN status updates will vanish after 24 hours and are equally protected by end-to-end encryption as other status updates are.

At the moment, only a selection of beta testers who have updated to WhatsApp version 2.23.2.8 can publish their voice notes as WhatsApp Status updates. According to WABetaInfo, the feature will be available to more users in the coming weeks.

Beyond that, WhatsApp is also developing a capability to handle spam messages more effectively. The messaging app has reportedly been testing a feature that will let users ban those who are not on their contact list from the notification bar. Users will eventually be able to blacklist unknown contacts without needing to open the chat.
