Unpacked 2014: Samsung Unveils the Note 4, Gear S, Note Edge and Gear VR

Samsung Unpacked 2014 event just came to an end with the unveiling of four technology innovative device, the Galaxy Note 4, Galaxy Note Edge, the Gear S and the Gear Vr.

Galaxy Note 4

The Note 4 is the latest version of the Note series and the biggest unveiling of the day, Samsung introduced the Note 4 under four main categories: Design, Large screen, S-Pen and Camera. It features a large 5.7-inch Quad HD super AMOLED screen that delivers an excellent viewing experience and better multitasking. it is bundled with the same UI found on the S5 and its powered by  faster Snapdragon 805 chip which gives fluid and fast response time. 

The device is equipped with a 16 megapixel rear-facing camera with Smart Optical Image Stabilizer (OIS) that counter-balances camera shake and automatically extends exposure time in dark settings. The front facing camera is a 3.7 megapixel with f1.9 which offers an expanded shooting/wide andle from 77 degrees to 90 degree.

The Note 4 is 8.5mm thin, weighs 176g and bears four new distinct features: a Quad HD super AMOLED screen, Large screen Multitasking, New S-Pen with Smart Select and Fast charging.

Battery life has been improved up to 7.5% and it sits at a 3220mAh rating. Fast charging is an improved battery technology feature that allows your battery charge from 0-50% in just 30 minutes while it also has the Ultra Power Saving Mode feature as seen in the S5. The revolutionary S pen also has improved features and works just like a computer mouse when selecting or copying files or multiple images.

Talking about freebiz, Samsung has gone into partnership with DropBox to provide users with free 50GB of Cloud storage for two years.

Other notable features are improved noise cancellation, the presence of three new microphone that enhanced voice recording, sound can be recorded from eight distinct direction and then selectively replaying the recording by direction

Samsung says the Note 4 will be available in the market by October.

Samsung Gear S

The Gear S is a wearable device with a 2-Inch Curved Super AMOLED screen that sits just fine on the wrist. It has super advancement and improved interphase over the previous Galaxy Gear versions with the presence of a SIM card slot, this means that you can make and receive calls, receive and read your SMS, receive notifications from your social platforms directly on your wrist. Samsung has replicated the smartphone experience on the Gear S with a full QWERTY keyboard.

The most impressive thing about the Gear S is that you do not necessarily have to connect to your phone or have your phone with you to have access to its full functionality, it works independently but you have to connect it to a compatible Gear Samsung phone the first time….. and that’s all. Connectivity options available on the Gear S are Bluetooth, 3G and WIFI.

The Gear S also features S Health. You can use S health on the gear S without your phone and If you forgot where u packed your car, you can ask a Gear S where your car is parked and it will help you locate it.

Galaxy Note Edge

Galaxy Note Edge which has a curved display technology is a proof that Samsung is the leading innovative technology company. The Edge screen can act as a separate screen with which you can control the main screen without interference, the menu and tool bar shows on the Edge screen when using the camera. Samsung says the Note Edge will be available in select market.

Samsung Gear VR

Samsung introduced the Gear VR in partnership with Oculus. The Gear VR is a Virtual Reality Headset that uses the brand new Samsung Galaxy Note 4 as its display to deliver ultimate 3D viewing experience. It’s designed to work with the 5.7-inch Note 4, a Quad HD-SuperAMOLED-screen-sporting phablet
