LONDON, United Kingdom – 4:00pm – 25th September 2017 Last week was filled with the news of Uber’s operation being threatened in London via the restriction of their licence. We wrote extensively about it here and even updated it.

However, one thing we added was a tweet from Dara Khosrowshahi, the CEO of Uber who had always admitted their ‘wrongs’  but is of the opinion that working together with the TfL is a much better approach to cleaning this ‘mess’ than any other aggressive method of going in and out of court. Notwithstanding, the reactions from Londoners in favour of Uber had them call the authorities all manner of names and showering memes on Twitter.

Uber’s petition to the London Mayor and Chairman of TfL, Sadiq Khan has been signed by nearly 800,000 people which is still less than half the number of people they claim to be depending on them. Regardless, it is still a large number and can actually be used as a source of evidence to a Jury. Perhaps, an effect of this is the immense “pressure” brought on the Transport for London (TfL) of which Khan wasn’t pleased.

Just today, Dara published an open letter in the Evening Standard to Londoners’ saying:

‘I apologise for the mistakes we’ve made’

I am of the opinion that Uber’s “humble” approach to addressing the situation will connect emotionally to both the aggrieved and lovers of the service. But the final decision to Uber’s stay in London lies in the outcome of their appeal.

However, Uber is arguably more eco-friendly than the regular Black Taxi’s many of which contribute to the emission of harmful gases in the city. Now, coupled with their renewed commitment to ensure a Clean Air they will appeal to the Sustainability activists. Likewise, their provisioning of accessible cars is definitely a step in the right direction.

Stay tuned as we bring you timely updates on the matter.
