Tecno launches Phantom V Fold, its first foldable device

Tecno Phantom V Fold

The foldable Tecno Phantom V Fold has made its first appearance at the MWC23 event. This device is the Chinese smartphone manufacturing company’s first entry into the foldable market. A few months ago, leaked information about this device hit the internet and now the device is public.

Being the company’s first foldable device, expectations are not particularly high as it might not be as well-baked as already existing foldables. Nonetheless, the images and videos suggest that Tecno put a lot of effort into making it the perfect device.

Tecno’s Phantom V Fold comes with a 6.42-inch LTPO AMOLED external or cover screen. On the inside is a 7.85-inch LTPO screen that split into two halves when folded.

In the photography department, the device comes with five cameras located on the rear and on both screens of this device. On the rear is a triple camera setup housing a 50MP main lens. The external or cover screen holds a 32MP selfie camera, and the inner screen holds a 16MP selfie camera.

The design of the rear camera is circular, and it holds the three rear cameras along with a flash. It also comes with a textured back finish which will be comfortable to hold and prevent accidental slips while the device is in use. For performance, the Tecno Phantom V Fold makes use of the MediaTek Dimensity 9000+ processor.

It is the first foldable device to launch with this 5G-enabled flagship processor and up to 12GB RAM and 512GB of storage capacity.

Tecno also provides various memory and storage capacities for buyers to pick from. Pricing starts at $979 for early birds. It will be available to buy and ship by the second quarter of 2023.
