Anibe Idajili, a Senior Reporter at TechCityNG, has been selected as one of only fifteen journalists for the 2025/2026 Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI) Journalism Fellowship. Idajili joins a cohort of journalists chosen from nearly 200 applicants across Nigeria.
The Fellowship, an initiative by the Media Foundation for West Africa (MFWA) in partnership with Co-Develop, is designed to empower journalists to tell the important stories behind Africa’s digital evolution. For Idajili, whose reporting at TechCityNG has consistently shed light on the intersection of technology, policy, and everyday Nigerian lives, the programme is a perfect fit.
Through the six-month programme, Idajili and her fellow journalists will receive hands-on training, editorial mentorship, and access to a continental information hub on DPIs and Digital Public Goods (DPGs). The fellowship includes a monthly stipend for the journalists and a newsroom partnership grant to support their investigative work.
Fellows are expected to produce at least six original, well-researched stories that foster public discourse on issues like digital identity, payments, data exchange, and governance. Exceptional performers will also earn opportunities to participate in international DPI convenings.
Sulemana Braimah, Executive Director of the MFWA, stated, “The DPI Journalism Fellowship represents a strategic investment in fostering informed and independent media narratives that shape public discourses. We are grateful to Co-Develop for the partnership and support in making this initiative possible.”
Upon successful completion, Idajili and the other fellows will be awarded a Certificate of Honor in recognition of their contribution to improving transparency and accountability around digital public infrastructure.
