Oracle To Establish Solution Centre In Lagos

World leading Software Company, Oracle Incorporated, has revealed plans to establish the first West and Central Africa Oracle Advanced Solution Centre in Lagos, Nigeria – where it will showcase its product and services for businesses and expand its cloud service portfolio. The solution centre will oversee all Oracle hardware and software solutions to suit customer benefits.

Speaking at the Oracle Open Day 2012 in Lagos last week, Regional Sales Director of Oracle, West and Central Africa for hardware, Alexander Jenewein, revealed that with the paced nature of technology, Oracle is paying attention to Nigeria being the second largest market in Africa with a its teeming population embracing technology to better their lives.

Jenewein said the Solution centre would be an added investment running into millions of naira and will aid digital growth in Nigeria’s economy while ensuring that people understand what Oracle can do with its expertise and knowledge in the IT sector coupled with what its strategy of simplifying IT means for them.

“The centre will also serve a stopping point for oracle customers, who will not have to travel far to contact an Oracle agent, while deploying Oracle solutions,” he explained.

“Already one of our partners is doing a search for a proper location and premises and the centre will have a showroom where we can display servers to test, benchmark and showcase the systems to our customers and run the applications for them to see.”

Jenewein stated  further that the solutions will help the government increase its revenue generation, tax collections, improve work flow and public sector efficiencies. He added that the  company is already working in the public sector with a number of states other than Lagos State.

On education, training and certification for the Nigerian market, Oracle expert in charge of Oracle University for Nigeria, Lynda Abah said, henceforth Nigeria has become a centre of Oracle University where training and certification can be directly carried out from Nigeria through Oracle experts.

Stating the benefits of the Oracle Day in Nigeria, Jenewein said  it was meant for “customers who didn’t have the chance to go to the Oracle Open World in San Francisco, USA last month.”

“At Oracle Open World, we always announce new products and the alliance strategy which is simplification of the IT business for our customers. We have established the Oracle Day and this is the second time we are doing it consecutively here in Lagos,” he added.

The Oracle Day in Nigeria was organised to give customers who did not have the chance to participate in the Oracle Open World in San Francisco, USA last month. The Oracle Open World 2012 is one of the world’s largest technology show which features about 50,000 people from 123 countries around the world.
