When AI made its debut, it did so stealthily. Not too much noise. People would discover the brilliance of artificial intelligence as they came to be aware of it. Then make noise about it, then the noise would die down. Rinse and repeat. But when fashion’s interest was piqued to feature in this day of AI – or was it vice versa – it did what is unarguably characteristic of fashion. Make a dramatic entry. Take centre stage. Give main character energy.
And you know who made it worth our while? Meta AI and celebrated London-based Nigerian designer, Ifeanyi Nwune of I.N Official.

In the first ever AI-Imagined fashion collection show powered by Meta AI at the Africa Fashion Week London, attendees were treated to futuristic fashion in the form of designs generated by Meta AI and brought to life by I.N Official showcasing just how tech and fashion as we know it have advanced.
Themed Transcendence, Meta said, “(I.N’ Official’s) Fall/Winter 2025 collection was designed using Meta AI creative tools like (the) Search and Imagine feature at every stage of the creative process, from fabric selection to visual storytelling, blending African heritage with modern technology to bring an innovative vision of fashion to life.”
With technology moving past the mechanism of sewing machines or sending your tailor a design via Whatsapp, fashion is at everyone’s finger tips and it is easier than ever to bring concepts to life. No longer do we have to rack our brains to figure out how an abeti aja (traditional Yoruba cap) will look as a face cap!

Highlighting the specific traditional references at the fashion show and the platform’s results generally, Meta said, “the collection celebrated African creativity and highlighted Meta’s commitment to giving creators accessible tools to dream bigger, design faster, and bring visionary ideas to life.
Speaking of accessibility, Meta AI is the world’s most accessible AI assistant that’s there for you in our apps you already use daily and on meta.ai – helping you learn, get things done, create content and connect to make the most out of every moment. Meta AI is inside the Meta apps you use every day like WhatsApp, Instagram, Facebook, and Messenger, or type ‘@Meta AI’ in a group message to use it with friends. You can get as creative as you want, and you’ll just be getting started.
Designer Ifeanyi Nwune used prompts on Meta AI throughout the creative process of putting together his collection, adapting design sketches that were then turned into physical designs. That inspired me to take MetaAI for a spin on Instagram and these are the interesting results I got from the prompts I entered.

It is so impressive! However, I must mention that it doesn’t always give the exact result you may be expecting and there’s just one result per prompt but details is the name of the game! You need to be as clear and as detailed as can be with your prompts.
And if you are concerned about copyright issues with designs created now or in the future, the company is not unaware of legal protections that sometimes come with expressing, communicating or referencing art and assures users, “if there is an image with potential IP violations, a business can report this through our Intellectual Property Reporting Center.”
