Nord VPN And SurfShark

Nord VPN and SurfShark have officially merged: What you need to know

Are you a VPN user? If yes then you should know that Nord VPN And SurfShark have merged! Here is all the info on the merger

NORD Security has announced in a statement that its company Nord VPN has merged with SurfShark. A decision both companies have been trying to reach since mid-2021. Besides the fact that both Nord and SurfShark are VPN services, they also share a link with Tesonet as it helped in the development of the two VPN services.

The merger between the two companies has been referred to as a “strategic partnership”, which will aid the companies in sharing technical knowledge. This merger is also going to help in terms of diversification of services rendered.

While both companies have their differences in terms of strengths and weaknesses, users like yours truly went for SurfShark simply because it was a cheaper option. Nord VPN on the other hand focuses more on security with its products. The merger between these two companies will in effect help create an “internet security powerhouse” for users with varying needs.

What Does The Nord VPN And SurfShark Merger Mean For Users

As a result of this merger, questions like, “will there now be one VPN service in place of Nord VPN and Surf Shark VPN?” have risen. The simple answer to that is, no. The merger between the two VPN service providers will not bring them to operate as one, but, it means that they both now have the same parent company, Nord Security. SurfShark users get to keep their current VPN applications and accounts while operating them independent of any interference, and so do Nord VPN users.

There will be no sharing of user information between the two companies, both will operate independently of the other but with a shared goal. A full statement as to “who gains what” from the merger has not yet been released. This looks to us like an excellent example of “rivals becoming brothers.” For years, these two companies have gone head-to-head over users and who renders better services, but all of that tension is set to cool off.

This trend of two companies with the same business sharing one parent is not new in the world of technology. A lot of tech names operate similarly, for example, Tecno and Infinix (owned by Transsion holding), Oppo and Vivo (owned by BBK Electronics), MINI and Rolls-Royce (owned by BMW). One company owns two similar businesses for different markets and this is the category Nord VPN and SurfShark now fall into.
