Lenovo’s ThinkBook Plus Gen 6 Rollable: A Laptop with a Scrollable OLED Screen

Laptop users who need more screen space on the go now have a futuristic option—Lenovo’s ThinkBook Plus Gen 6 Rollable. First teased as a concept in 2022, the rollable OLED laptop was officially unveiled at CES 2025, and it’s now available for purchase.

A History of Innovation

Lenovo’s ThinkBook line has never shied away from pushing boundaries. Since 2019, the series has introduced features like an E Ink cover with stylus input, dual screens, fold-over hinges, and detachable displays. But the Gen 6 Rollable takes things even further with a motorized scrollable display that expands from 14 inches to 16.7 inches.

At the press of a button or even with a simple hand gesture—the display scrolls up from its compact form to provide a larger workspace, making it ideal for multitasking, presentations, or immersive viewing.

How the Rollable Display Works

To make the rollable mechanism work, Lenovo had to completely rethink the internal design of the laptop. Partnering with Intel, the company created a smaller printed circuit board and reorganized internal components to create space for the scrollable tech.

Two tiny motors housed in the chassis control the OLED screen’s movement. According to Intel’s Zheng Jiong, thermal management and smooth screen transitions are handled by a customized Intel Core Ultra system-on-chip using dynamic thermal tuning (DTT) and custom graphics driver software.
