The inaugural Kwara AI Summit 2025 concluded successfully after two impactful days of innovation, collaboration, and forward-looking conversations, reinforcing Kwara State’s growing reputation as one of Nigeria’s fastest-emerging centres for technology and artificial intelligence.
Held from November 27 to 28, 2025, at the Ilorin Innovation Hub, the summit brought together policymakers, technology leaders, startup founders, developers, researchers, investors, academics, students, and innovators from across Nigeria and beyond under the theme “AI in Harmony: Bridging People, Policy, and Possibilities.”
Organized by the Kwara State Government and the Ilorin Innovation Hub, in partnership with Lovable, Pastel, Zoho, NCAIR, Premia Business Network, Awarri, IHS, KWASU, UNDP, AI in Nigeria, and AgoraVisa, the event showcased Kwara’s growing capacity to convene national conversations around artificial intelligence while demonstrating the state’s commitment to building a globally competitive innovation ecosystem.
Throughout the summit, participants engaged in keynote presentations, panel discussions, technical workshops, networking sessions, exhibitions, startup showcases, and collaborative conversations focused on the future of artificial intelligence in governance, education, healthcare, agriculture, finance, creative industries, and entrepreneurship. The event highlighted practical applications of AI while emphasizing the importance of responsible innovation, inclusive policy, and talent development.
One of the defining moments of the summit was the Kwara AI Hackathon, where teams developed innovative AI-powered solutions to real-world challenges facing communities, businesses, and government institutions. The competition demonstrated the remarkable creativity and technical excellence of young innovators while providing a platform for emerging talent to gain visibility among industry leaders and potential investors.
The hackathon entries were evaluated by a distinguished panel comprising Ibrahim Adepoju, Co-founder and Chief Executive Officer of Tyms, for his expertise in the field of AI financial product development; Mercy Thaddeus, Co-founder of Attention Factory, who is a nationally recognized AI content creator; and Babatunde Kelani, Chief Executive Officer of License Advisory, an AI-enabled licensing platform for fintech organizations. Bringing together expertise in artificial intelligence, fintech, startup growth, product innovation, technology strategy, and ecosystem development, the judges assessed submissions based on innovation, technical execution, real-world impact, scalability, user experience, and market potential. The judging panel was thoroughly constituted by the Kwara AI Summit 2025 Selection Committee, chaired by Temi Kolawole, Director of the Ilorin Innovation Hub. The committee intentionally selected respected founders and technology leaders with proven records of building successful companies, mentoring entrepreneurs, supporting innovation ecosystems, and identifying high-potential startups. Their diverse experience ensured a fair, credible, and world-class evaluation process that reflected the summit’s vision of promoting practical, impactful, and globally competitive AI solutions.
