TechCity can exclusively report that iDEA Hub Nigeria which is one of Nigeria’s foremost incubation hubs and innovation centers is shutting down its Yaba operations tomorrow.

TechCity can confirm that the facility which used to be the home of iDEA Nigeria will no longer be open for business after Monday, 20th March 2017. The development was confirmed by the management of the hub via an internal communication exclusively gotten by TechCity.

In an email sent to members of the iDEA Nigeria team, Olaiwola Bolaji, Operations manager for iDEA Nigeria did not affirmatively say that the end has come for iDEA Nigeria. Instead, he said they are moving operations to a soon-to-be-named location.

“The iDEA Nigeria facility is relocating from the mainland to a new address that we will communicate shortly. This means that this facility will no longer be open for business after Monday, 20th March 2017,” Bolaji said.

But a member of the idea hub community who spoke to TechCity expressed shock over the sudden nature of the move. They said if the management was sincerely relocating and not entirely shutting down, the relocation move would have been properly communicated to them and not few hours to the end of operations at the location that had been identified as the home of iDEA Hub in the Yaba tech space.

Information Technology Developers Entrepreneurship Accelerator (iDEA) was established in 2013 to leverage information technologies to bring disruptive change.

“We are supporting a new generation of Nigerian digital entrepreneurs to develop innovative solutions and business models that make businesses and commerce more efficient, provide new ways to deliver government and social services and help reduce poverty and unemployment,” the hub management stated on the hub’s official website.
