Google Pixel 7 series’ stunning design and top-tier camera capabilities

Google Pixel 7 series

The newest entry from Google’s mobile smartphone effort is the Google Pixel 7 series. This series comprises two devices; the Pixel 7 and the Pixel 7 Pro, both of which are flagship-level devices. The upgrades this new series brings are in design, processor performance, and photography abilities.

Design

Last year with the launch of the Pixel 6 series, Google took on a new design language, one which still resounds with the Pixel 7 series. With this design, Google made the bump of the rear camera stretch horizontally (left to right lol) across the top of the device. This year they did well to make that design even more interesting than in the previous generation.

Instead of maintaining the colour black across the camera bump (like with the Pixel 6 series), Google adds an impressive splash of colour. The new splash of colour carries on across the camera bump and onto the frames of the Pixel 7 series. So by picking one colour of smartphone, you are getting two colours to match your style.

Google Pixel 7 series processor

With the launch of this series, the elephant in the room is the new processor on board. Starting from the Pixel 6 series, Google dropped off using any Snapdragon processor on any of their smartphones. Instead, the company made a switch to use its processor, the Google Tensor.

This processor from Google boasts top security features, state of the art photography capabilities, and so much more. The new Pixel 7 series comes with an upgraded chip known as the Google Tensor G2. Some features this processor boasts of are better battery life, security, a pro camera (pictures and videos) feature, intelligence, and gaming prowess.

The Tensor G2 powers both devices in this series, so users of either device will get the same level of processing power. Thanks to this processor, the Pixel 7 series can offer some of the best and most intelligent camera abilities the industry has to offer. For security capabilities, the processor relies on its Titan M2 security core present on both devices. For storage the Pixel 7 Pro uses 12GB of RAM and up to 512GB of ROM, the Pixel 7 boasts 8GB of RAM and up to 256GB of ROM.

Google Pixel 7 series general features

Google Pixel 7 Pro

The screen size and display type on the devices in this series differ from the others. The Pixel 7 Pro, comes with a 6.7-inch QHD+ LTPO OLED display supporting a 120Hz refresh rate. On its part, the Pixel 7 comes with a 6.3-inch FHD+ OLED display supporting a 90Hz refresh rate. Simply put, the display on the Pixel 7 Pro is better than that on the Pixel 7.

Again, there exists another difference in the camera abilities of the two devices. The Pro model comes with a triple camera system housing a 50MP main camera, a 48MP telephoto camera, and a 12MP ultrawide camera. The more affordable Pixel 7 comes with a dual camera setup, housing a 50MP main camera and a 12MP ultrawide camera.

Battery capacity on the two models also differs as the Pro comes with a 5000mAh battery. On the other hand, the Pixel 7 comes with a smaller, 4355mAh battery capacity. Both devices support fast charging at a speed of 30W with the aid of a fast-charging brick. Users can charge the devices with a USB-C cord or wirelessly. Despite coming with a smaller battery, the Pixel 7 will still be able to last long thanks to the battery life optimization it’d get from its Tensor G2 processor.

Both devices will boot Android 13 out of the box with bare minimal customizations and up to 3 years of OS upgrade. For protection, devices on the Pixel 7 series are both water and dust-resistant. The specifications of these devices are flagship-level and will compete with other top-tier devices in the market.
