Munich-based security tech firm Giesecke+Devrient (G+D) has launched Convego Message Smart Interact, a smart solution that turns traditional bank communications like letters and brochures into digital gateways via NFC chips and touch-sensitive ink.
This innovation allows customers to use their smartphones to access digital services directly from printed documents, representing a major step in merging physical and digital customer touchpoints.
How It Works: NFC and Conductive Ink
At the heart of Convego Message Smart Interact is a combination of NFC (Near Field Communication) chips and interactive printed buttons using conductive ink. When a customer places their smartphone on a marked area or presses a printed button, it instantly opens relevant digital content, such as:

G+D has designed the solution in three interactive formats to suit different needs:
- Smart Interact Touch: Buttons printed on paper respond to touch.
- Smart Interact Tap: Tap an NFC-enabled area with a smartphone to activate.
- Smart Interact Scan: Use a phone camera to scan printed QR codes with added augmented reality (AR) support.
