Apple Announces iPhone 5S

Apple has officially unveiled the much anticipated iPhone 5S at it’s  launch event (which featured three different products: iPhone 5S, iPhone 5C and iOS7) at it’s headquarters in California.

The iPhone 5S is different from its predecessor with high-end camera features, a faster 64-bit A7 processor (making it the world’s first 64-bit smartphone) and a fingerprint scanner. The Iphone 5s will also come in three different colors: Silver, Gold and Space Grey. Black has been eliminated, possibly due to its scratching surface effect.

The Unique Feature of the Iphone 5s is the Fingerprint Scanner:

Fingerprint Scanner

Touch ID sensor is the name of the new scanner. It’s integrated into the home button. Instead of a 4-key password as security, the Touch ID sensor doubles as the security (even though the option of a 4-key password is still available). You can also purchase apps and other iTunes content with a tap of your finger. It scans sub-epidermal skin layers for clearer images and the phone can be taught to recognize more than one finger, regardless of the orientation.

Other Features Include:

Camera and Video

Apple has made it a point to always be consistent with their camera features. The iSight camera of the 5S is still 8MP but now has a new sensor with an active area that is 15 percent larger. The 1080p HD camera captures video at a whopping 120 frames per second instead of the usual 30fps.

Dan Moren of Macworld.com was pretty much excited about this particular feature as he noted, “before you take a picture, iPhone does an auto white balance, auto exposure, crating dynamic local tone map around the image to get better highlights and shadows, auto-focus matrix metering for sharpness, and it actually takes multiple phones, analyzes them in real time for which is the sharpest, and that’s what you see.”

The iPhone 5S retains the same 4-inch screen size of its predecessors as well as with the newly unveiled budget iPhone 5C. It’s got Apple’s Retina Display, which has a 1136 x 640-pixel resolution and a pixel density of 326 ppi. It comes with internal memory variations of 16GB, 32GB and 64GB.  The battery life is a 10 hours of 3G talk time, 10 hours of LTE browsing, 10 hours of Wi-Fi browsing, 10 hours of video, 40 hours of music play time and 250 hours of standby (that’s just 10days and 10 hours).

The iPhone 5S will be on Sale by September 20 in some countries like Australia, Canada, China, France, Germany, Japan, Singapore, UK and US. About 100 countries will start selling the phone by December.
