Amazon is taking a futuristic leap in logistics by developing humanoid robots designed to deliver packages to customers’ doors. According to The Information, the tech giant is working on AI software that will power these robots and allow them to function as mobile delivery workers transported in Rivian electric vans.
The report reveals that Amazon has nearly completed a new testing site in San Francisco referred to as a “humanoid park” about the size of a coffee shop. This indoor facility includes a Rivian van and an obstacle course where humanoid robots will be trained to hop out of the van and deliver packages autonomously.

Amazon’s vision is clear: a robotic workforce capable of handling deliveries from the van to your doorstep, reducing reliance on human drivers and speeding up last-mile logistics.
AI-Driven Robotic Workforce
This initiative is part of Amazon’s broader automation efforts. The company recently announced a new agentic AI team tasked with building technology that enables robots to understand natural language and perform a variety of warehouse and delivery tasks. Amazon says it wants to replace “rigid, specialized robots” with more flexible, intelligent systems.
Amazon is also experimenting with robots like Agility Robotics’ Digit, a bipedal humanoid that was originally envisioned for delivery use. Another contender in Amazon’s test facility is a $16,000 robot from China-based Unitree.
Toward Full Automation?
With hundreds of thousands of workers currently managing delivery operations globally, Amazon’s move to test humanoid delivery robots signals a long-term strategy to automate the full delivery chain. The company’s 2020 acquisition of robotaxi firm Zoox further underlines its ambitions to automate everything from warehouse sorting to front-door drop-offs.
While it may sound like science fiction, Amazon’s humanoid robots could soon be part of your daily delivery experience.
