AWIT

Lagos, Nigeria – March 10, 2026 – African Women in Technology (AWIT) will host the Nigeria edition of its International Women’s Day 2026 Global Series on 12 March 2026, 10 AM at the Nexford University Community Space in Lagos. The event, themed “Give to Gain: Balancing the Scale,” will bring together leaders across technology, fintech, venture capital, media, and innovation ecosystems to examine how women can gain stronger representation in leadership and decision making roles within the digital economy.

The Lagos convening is part of a three-city global series taking place in Nigeria, Kenya, and Washington DC, designed to encourage cross-continent dialogue on women’s leadership in emerging technologies, entrepreneurship, and innovation.

TechCity joins the event as the official media partner, supporting the conversation on women’s leadership in technology and helping to amplify insights from the gathering to the broader innovation community.

Across Africa, women are playing an increasing role in driving digital transformation, yet they remain underrepresented in venture capital, deep technology leadership, and ownership within emerging technology sectors. The event will explore practical pathways for strengthening women’s access to capital, leadership opportunities, and influence within the innovation ecosystem.

The programme will feature expert talks and panel discussions, including “The Future Is Female: AI, Data and Digital Power,” a conversation on women’s leadership in artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, and ethical data use. Panellists include Ized Uanikhehi, CEO and Founder of Zedi Inc; Dr Taiwo Anjorin, Board Member of the AI Filmmakers Network; Olufunmi Olaosun, Chief Strategy Officer at MyLEAPS Initiative; and Zusi Inegbeniki, Founder of FoundexAI.

Financial inclusion will also be a key focus. Oluwatosin Olaseinde, Founder and CEO of MoneyAfrica and Ladda, will lead a session examining how fintech innovation and financial literacy can expand wealth creation opportunities for women.

Other sessions will explore venture funding and scalable innovation for women founders, the role of communications in strengthening Africa’s innovation narrative, and how technology creators are shaping digital influence and technology adoption. Speakers include Toluwanimi Onakoya, Director of Communications at AfriLabs, and Ayeni Oluwatobi Dorcas (MissTechy), Director of MissTechy Media.

The event will conclude with a power conversation on women influencing systems and leadership structures, featuring Juliet Eze, Founder of Sexual Health Hub.

AWIT expects the convening to strengthen networks among women leaders in technology, encourage collaboration between innovators and investors, and create clearer pathways for young professionals entering emerging technology careers.
