The winner of the 2.3 GHz spectrum licence from the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), Bitflux has blamed harsh environment for the delay in the company’s roll-out plans.

According to Biodun Omoniyi, the Chief Executive Officer of VDT Communications, the firm leading the three companies that formed the consortium, Bitflux will roll out before the end of March, having put certain things in place.

He said that contracts have been signed and vendors have started supplies, which is an indication that the consortium is rolling out soon.  Omoniyi said the rollout would be in phases, adding that Bitflux would begin rollout with Lagos, from where it would spread to other states of the federation.

It would be recalled that Bitflux, an indigenous company comprising VDT Communications, Bitcom Systems and Superflux International, paid USD 23.251 million for the licence.

Omoniyi enjoined the Nigerian government to always strive to provide the right business environment, and commended the NCC for what he described as highly transparent auction of the 2.3 GHz spectrum last year.
