According to The New York Posts, Two unnamed people reportedly entered a building  at the JFK airport on Monday night and used a forklift to move two pallets filled with the Apple tablets, which had just arrived from China, into an awaiting truck.

The duo actually left three more iPad shipments in the building, but left quickly after an airport worker saw what they were doing. The thieves, and the iPads, are still at large as of this writing.
