You have to disable the MacBook’s auto brightness feature by going to ‘System preferences’, click display and uncheck ‘Automatically adjust brightness’. To now adjust the brightness of your pc, press the F1 button on the keyboard or F1 and FN.

All recently released MacBook’s come with a lit keyboard which is great when you are typing in the dark. However, that drains battery life and can be disabled! All you need do is press and hold the F5 key on your keyboard or the FN+F5 key and to turn the keyboard light back on, press F6 or FN+F6.
