The Wiko Getaway has a 5inch IPS LCD screen with a resolution of 1280 by 720 at 294ppi and a color range of 16 million colors which gives a great viewing experience. To ensure screen durability, Wiko opted for Coring Gorilla Glass 2 as the material covering the LCD screen. The sides of the device are covered by a metallic trim that goes round the device and houses the sim trays, power on and off button and the volume rocker. The back cover of the device is made of attractive faux leather that gives the device a premium look and feel.

The back cover is non-removable so it uses sim trays on both sides. The device can work with either one micro-SIM and one nano-SIM or one micro-sim and a micro-sd card of up to 32GB. Also included with the device are sim adapters so you can use a nano-sim in a micro sim slot.

The dimensions of the Getaway are 143mm by 69.5mm by 7.2mm and it weighs just 133gm so it’s is quite comfortable to carry.

Processor, Memory and OS

The device is powered by a 1.3Ghz Cortex A-7 quad-core processor, a Mali-400 GPU, has 16Gb of internal storage and 1Gb of RAM and runs on the Android 4.4.2 KitKat operating system. On the Getaway, Wiko has gone for the basic Android interface and has avoided installing unnecessary apps so  you have less bloatware issues and there’s more memory available for the user.

The connectivity options on the Getaway include micro-USB 2.0, Bluetooth 4.0, 3G and Wi-Fi

Battery

The battery on the Wiko Getaway is non-removable with capacity at 2000mAh. On a 3G network the battery has a standby a time of about 260h and a talk time of about 14h. In practical terms, on full charge with average use the battery should last the user for about a day.

Camera

The back facing camera of the Getaway comes in at 13MP with auto focus and LED flash while the front facing camera comes in at 5MP, and takes beautiful natural looking selfies. Features of the camera include Geo tagging, touch focus, face/smile detection, panorama, HDR, and in video mode the camera records video at 1080p at 30 frames per second.

Another unique feature on the Wiko Getaway is the smart gestures. When the smart gestures options activated you can perform a couple of task without having to touch the screen. Some of the gestures are picking a call by raising the phone to user ears, taking a picture by making a gesture, and browsing through the gallery by swiping in the air over your screen.

Conclusion

The Wiko Getaway is a smart phone that has great software and hardware specifications and manages to position itself as a mid-range device that has the look and feel of a premium device and it is likely to become very popular in Nigeria with lots of smart phone users.
