The Love a soldier campaign – a chance to appreciate our soldiers

Love a soldier

There is a silent war that’s being quelled in our nation. Some will not call it a war because they have neither witnessed it nor lost a loved one. But for the soldiers fighting in the North East to defend the peace and sovereignty of Nigeria, there’s a war and they are on the front-lines.

This valentines as you and I take out time to show love to friends, family and significant others, Fuel Communications, through it ‘The Life Brief Initiative’ encourages that we all write a ‘Love note’ to a soldier, especially the ones on the front-lines or at least any soldier.

The campaign was launched with the hashtag #Loveasoldier and it’s aim is to remind us all to show love to the people who have placed themselves in harm’s way in order for our country to be safe enough for the rest of us to celebrate.

In a short piece on the campaign’s dedicated website, there’s a short note that reads thus;

“Ever thought of what soldiers on the field do on Valentine’s Day?

Well, we did…

Far away from home, loved ones and family, they do not have dinner for two, red roses or special gifts…

It is just another day.

But if they weren’t there, there would be no valentine for us all.

It takes love to do that; abandon home for people who do not even know your name.

They have shown us love, now it’s time for us to do the same.”

The objective of this campaign is to create the largest collection of #Lovenotes from Nigerians to celebrate and appreciate the sacrifices of men of the Nigerian Army.

So now’s your turn. Join the ‘Love a soldier’ campaign this valentine season by dropping your own #LoveNote here.
