Lenovo Vibe X2 Review

The Lenovo VIBE X2, also known as the world’s first layered phone is truly a unique device. From the physical design to the user interface it’s what you would call different. So let’s dig into the details.

Design

The Vibe X2 is made up of four layers. First the display panel which is protected by Gorilla Glass 3. Next comes two layers with metallic trim, with each layer in its own unique colour. These metallic trimmed layers house the SIM tray on the left side of the phone and the power button and volume rocker on the right side.

At the top of these layers is the 3.5mm head phone jack and at the bottom the micro USB port and the mouth piece. The final layer is the back cover which houses the non -removable battery. With a dimension of 140.2mm x 68.6mm x 7.3mm and weight of 120gm the Vibe X2 is quite handy.

Display

The Lenovo Vibe X2 has a 5.0 inch multi-touch display, with a resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixel with pixel density at 441ppi. It is very touch responsive and has 16 million colours, it’s ideal for viewing videos and gaming.

Hardware and Performance

It is powered by a MediaTek 2.0GHz Octa core processor, 32GB non-expandable internal memory, 2GB of RAM, and runs on the Android 4.4 KitKat operating system. The OS on the Vibe X2 is heavily customized and Lenovo deploys a UI that offers enhanced features and customization options.

Camera

For picture lovers, the VIBE X2 provides a 13MP back facing camera with flash and a 5MP front facing camera that has an automatic beautification feature for creating beautiful Selfies. Camera features include Geo tagging, touch focus, face detection, panorama and HDR.

It also offers smart camera features such as:

QUICK SNAP: This enables you to take a picture when the screen is off by double tapping the home button.

RAISE TO SNAP: This enables you to activate the camera when the screen is off by simply keeping the phone horizontal and perpendicular to the ground.

Interesting Features

Other great features of the VIBE UI are:

POCKET MODE which automatically increases ring tone volume when the phone is in your pocket.

And SMART SCENE: which enables you schedule when apps and different features of the phone will be activated at specific times in the day.

The device also comes with an antivirus installed to ensure data security when you access the internet, power management features for extending the battery life and other apps for productivity, entertainment and social media.

Battery

The battery on the device is a decent 2300mAh which has a talk time of about 22hrs and for regular usage – social media, browsing, games -it should last through the day on a full charge.

Connectivity

The connectivity options on the Vibe X2 include 3G provided via a micro-SIM card which fits into the tray on the side. Other connectivity options are Wifi and Bluetooth 4.1.

In conclusion the Vibe X2 has a unique and classy design, formidable hardware and an appealing user interface, it sure does give you good vibes.
