Chatting is a very enjoyable experience. When you’re chatting with your pals you just hit the keyboard without cross checking the words you type. But the problem is the typo rate on most touchscreen phones is rather high.
This was the reasoning behind the creation of TYPO (TYPOKEYBOARDS), an iPhone keyboard case.
Typo has a QWERTY keyboard with backlight and a lock key to prevent accidental typing. It easily slips onto an iPhone. These features are changes made to the first prototype with the hopes that the court would reverse the injunction. However, some lawyers claim the changes are not enough and BlackBerry would not drop the charges.
Earlier this year, a San Francisco court granted preliminary injunction stating that Typo could no longer stay in the market as it was accused of deriving inspiration from BlackBerry.
In their defense, Typo tries to explain the source of their inspiration and their thought process on their website saying Typo was born out of a desire for efficiency. The website reads:
“Typo 2 was born out of a desire for efficiency. For several years, many of our friends and colleagues carried two phones: one for typing and correspondence and an iPhone for virtually everything else’’
Typo’s co-founder is TV personality and American Idol Host, Ryan Seacrest. The detachable keyboard is to be sold for 99 dollars and should be available by mid-September if no further charges are pressed
