Limited internet bandwidth: This is the maximum amount of data that can be transmitted between your device(s) and the internet at a given time, i.e. how many bits per second (Mbps, Gbps, etc) is being uploaded or downloaded. Depending on the bandwidth your ISP specifies, you may experience sluggish browsing, buffering delays, and interrupted downloads. Prioritise primary devices: If there are redundant or idle devices around, turn them off. They could be consuming bandwidth which can affect internet speed on your primary devices.
Check for background downloads: Make sure no background apps or downloads are eating up your bandwidth without your knowledge.
Position your router for maximum effect: Except your ISP installs your internet in a location that they deem suitable from their technical standpoint, placing your router in a central location, away from obstructions, and electronic devices that may interfere with the signal could give you more signal strength.
Update router firmware: ISPs like Starlink require that your router’s firmware is up to date. This helps to fix any bugs, enhance its performance and protect from the latest security threats.
Check your cables: Rats now eat cables. Really. Replacing weak, old or damaged Ethernet cables with high-quality ones can boost your internet speed significantly. Also consider using cable organisers for a tasteful setup.
Contact your ISP: If all else fails and your slow internet issues persist, reach out to your internet service provider. They can check for technical problems and offer guidance.
