Ugly and Looking for Love? There’s a Site for That

There’s no pressure on you to impress others with an array of pictures before any conversation can take place. Looks take a backseat on this dating website. So I found a website called uglyr.com and the website basically helps ugly people find love or like the website says, people that are not ‘Grade A Material’. And while checking through the website, all I could do was ‘Laugh Out Loud’. Apparently, the creators of this platform think looks don’t matter, what really counts is personality and there are a lot of uglies that have great personalities but don’t get a chance on dating apps like Tinder because of their looks.

Pictures and selfies are a first point of attraction on dating apps and other social connection platforms, which invariably gives a user a higher chance of getting liked, a date or hook up as agreed by the parties.

Whether people get disappointed at the number of beautiful matches they finally get to meet cannot be ascertained, however Uglyr says personality is more important than the volume of filtered pictures littered on social platforms.

Pictures are not required on Uglyr, people are not judged solely by their looks so people who are not very endowed in appearance, oh yes I don’t like using the word ‘ugly’ but have very good personality can get a chance to meet up.

According to the website, “Now it’s time for the uglies to get a look-in.” Yes oooo! Ugly people are also people and they need to be dated.

The website was created by Tom Thurlow, the creator of ‘Shag at Uni’ and he said, ‘”Our users don’t come here expecting to take home a six pack – they’ll settle for a beer belly that can make them laugh.” He also added, ““With Uglyr, ugly people will get dates – as will attractive people who don’t want to date people just because of their looks. There is no swiping or judging on looks. You have to message people and you have to start a conversation with them to find out what they’re about.”

The website provides users one of two options, the first: you can sign up if you are looking for a date or relationship while the other section is for “the horny uglies who are looking for nothing more than a bit of no-strings fun.”

My thoughts on Uglyr.com? Well I don’t have much to say, just that I think it’s a great dating site to join if :

You are ugly or unattractive
You know it
And it’s kinda hard for you to find love
You are good looking and don’t care about the other person’s appearance

So if you belong to these categories, then Uglyr.com is for you.

It is presently available in UK, Ireland, USA, Australia and South Africa. I wonder why Nigeria is yet to be listed but trust me I don’t think there are ugly people here….
