Top 2 Gaming Laptops Of 2014

Most people have the misconception that one laptop fits all purposes. Most people don’t know the difference between a core i5 processor and AMD dual core laptop except for the fact that the core i5 is more expensive than AMD.

Gaming laptops need more than just a powerful processor. They need high def graphics cards, enough space on the RAM, lengthy battery life and more. Regular laptops like HP and Dell are not primarily made for gaming; yes they can play PES and Mindcraft but that’s just scratching the surface.

Most people consider portability as an essential feature of the laptop they want to buy. Without further ado, here are the top 2 gaming laptops of 2014

1. ALIENWARE 17

Design

Much like its name, the Alienware 17’s design is very ‘’alien-like’’. Something about it reminds me of the movie Tron Legacy or Star Wars. It has a two-toned gray anodized-aluminum lid with pair of neon LEDs intersecting diagonally near the bottom of the lid.

Heating

The Alienware 17 is prone to heating up as with continuous use, the space between the G and H keys and the bottom of the notebook get very hot. This could happen within 15 minutes of streaming a full screen HD video.

Gaming

The Alienware 17 packs an Nvidia GeForce GTX 880M GPU with 8GB of dedicated video memory which means it can tear through the toughest graphically taxing game without breaking a sweat. The notebook also has Intel HD Graphics 4600 chip for less taxing processes like streaming a video or using a word document.

2. ASUS G750JZ-XS72

Design

The Asus G750JZ-XS72 can be said to be part Lamborghini and part stealth fighter. Its design looks very much like its predecessor – the Asus G750JX – it has a soft-touch black lid that curves inward on both sides. The lid is lovely to touch but would show traces of oily fingerprints.

Heating

The Asus G750JZ is very efficient at expelling heat, especially with it the huge vents at the rear end of the notebook; which does a very good job of keeping the notebook cool without letting off much noise from the fan.

Gaming

The Asus notebook comes with Nvidia’s newest high-end GPU, the GeForce GTX 880M, with 4GB of GDDR5 memory. This chip is an update of the GTX780M GPU and is expected to provide up to 15 percent more performance.
