The Tony Elumelu Entrepreneurship Programme (TEEP) is currently looking for mentors for its inaugural startup programme. TEEP is founded and funded by Nigerian philanthropic billionaire Tony O. Elumelu.
Launched in January 2015, the foundation’s TEEP aims to identify and support the growth of 1,000 African-owned businesses annually. This will be achieved with a US$100-million philanthropic programme, which includes the a highly designed framework of training, mentoring, funding, and networking for these startups.
The 1 000 entrepreneurs — from 51 African countries — chosen for this year’s programme went through a 12-week online business training and mentoring course to develop their business ideas. In July, the group converged in Nigeria for an entrepreneurial bootcamp; afterwards receiving US$5 000 each in seed capital to start developing their ideas.
TEEP is now looking for more mentors, who will benefit from collaborative teaching and learning opportunities, as well as improving their own skills and making new contacts. Those interested will be selected based on their qualifications to join the existing pool of mentors. The foundation is especially looking for experienced business professionals, executives, and entrepreneurs with a desire to help others grow.
