TECNO Phantom Z Specification

For those of us who watched the just concluded FIFA world cup in Brazil, we must have seen the advert of the yet to be released Tecno device, Tecno Phantom Z.

One night while i was playing and enjoying the soccer game on my Tecno R7 that was released about three months ago, thanks to PHCN for taking out power, some friends started asking me about the price of the new Phantom Z. I was so surprised thinking that another Tecno phone has been released barely two months after the R7 was introduced.

Then i found out that it was yet to be released and Tecno mobile just began the build up for the new device by throwing the ‘coming soon’ ad it into our faces and leaving us wondering what the specs sheet would look like.

Well, the specs have been rolling in and we have put them together and some of the things we expected in the R7 which we didn’t get will feature in the Z.  I know many people will begin to compare it with Samsung’s flagship device also but……. i wont to go into that.

The Z is a dual Sim phone, runs on the latest Android 4.4 Kitkat,  powered by a 2.0 GHz Octa core (8 core) processor as compared to the R7 which runs on Jelly Bean and powered by a 1.5GHz Hexa core (6 core) processor. The 6 core on the R7 has been impressive so we expect more power on the Z.

The primary camera clocks at 16 MP while the front facing camera sits at 8 MP.  One striking feature of the Phantom Z is the Dual Flash camera feature and the front facing camera now has a flash. This will make a good phone for taking nice selfies at night…at least we know that taking pictures at night with the front facing camera is always a headache in low light.

The display which sits at 5.2 inch is smaller than that of the 5.5 inch R7 display. Screen resolution is full HD 1920 × 1080 pixels and will likely feature the popular Samsung AMOLED display…if this is true, then we expect to see more vibrant images.

Pictures flying around also shows that the Phantom Z will feature a physical home button just below the screen. RAM size remains at 2GB, Internal storage is 16 GB which can be expanded up to 32 GB with a microSD.

I also realized that the build up campaign for the Phantom Z has started on Tecno mobile Facebook page, meaning that we wont be waiting for too long before the Z finds its way into the market. Now the big question is Why would Tecno decided to release Two Flagship product in less than a year?
