LG G5 is now official and might be the best smartphone in 2016

LG announced the LG G5, it latest flagship today at the on-going MWC 2016. Expectations were high and LG didn’t disappoint the audience but sprung a bit of surprises which made many people thinking the G5 may just be the biggest announcement at the Mobile World Congress 2016.

The LG G5 is a premium 5.3-inch smartphone with aluminum body and brilliant ergonomics with a powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 chipset to provide power alongside its premium design.

The screen resolution is 2560 x 1440 display which delivers elegant display and rich multimedia experience. RAM size is 4GB with an internal memory of 32GB which is also expandable with an SD card

There are two cameras at the back of the G5 and this is point where you begin to get the interesting stuff: a 16Megapixel camera and a 135-degree wide angle 8 Megapixel camera. These two can be switched to and fro easily and can be used to take individual pictures – the 8MP can capture wider shot while they both can be used together to create interesting picture combination.

The G5 comes with the latest LG UX which now creates a single user interface, eliminating the app drawer and making it more familiar to iPhone users.

The fingerprint scanner is positioned at the back, power button built into fingerprint reader which can be pressed in. Battery capacity is pegged at 2,800mAh.

LG isn’t about the specs we are all waiting to hear but places emphasis on the plug-in accessories that comes with the device. “If I’m here to just tell you about these numbers, you will not be excited,” says LG Mobile planning chief Dr. Ramchan Woo. “The mission of the G5 is to wake up your play instinct.”

Although the LG 360 VR is still mounted on the head, it differs as the phone isn’t placed in the VR compartment as seen on the Google cardboard or Samsung’s Gear VRhead, it connects to the G5 via USB-C.

The LG G5 will be available globally by April.
