Kodak Joins Smartphone Race With Its first Android Smartphone: The IM5

When you talk about cameras, it wont take too long before you mention the name Kodak. The company has been in the camera business for decades, interestingly the camera giant has joined the smartphone race with the launch of it’s first android powered smartphone, the IM5.

The Kodak IM5 built by Bullitt is a picture-focused, easy to use Android smartphone announced during the CES 2015 in Las Vegas. It is a 5-inch dual SIM phone that runs on Android Kit-Kat version with Lollipop update coming soon so we dont have to crucify the company yet. Powered by an 1.7GHz octa-core MediaTek processor, the 5-inch IPS display is clocked at 1,280×720-pixel and feels lightweight at 120g. The phone is so simple and user friendly, especially with its home screen launcher.

One would expect the Kodak smartphone to perform well in the camera department, the primary camera sits at 13MP with LED flash and a 5MP front facing camera. The camera is simple to use and you can approve photos you take before they’re stored on the phone. Apparently there is a compatibility with home printers which will allow you to print photos directly via an app which also permits you to edit and share pictures on social media.

Other specs of the phone include an 8GB internal storage and 1GB RAM. The IM5 also comes affordable at €229 when it launches in Europe by the end of the first quarter of 2015 and $249 when it lands in the US.
