HP today announced its newest ultrathin laptop – the HP Spectre 13. Standing at only 10.4mm thick, the HP Spectre 13 (or just HP Spectre) is thinner than the Dell XPS 13 and the MacBook Air and even though Guinness hasn’t confirmed it yet, HP says its new laptop is the thinnest laptop in the world.
It also looks like an elegant laptop too as it comes almost completely covered with stylish dark aluminium while its base is made from carbon fibre. HP’s new premium laptop only weighs about 2.45 pounds. It also comes with a 13.3 inch, 1080p display with no touch screen, no detachable body and (need I mention) no 4K display.
The HP Spectre 13 boasts 8 GB of memory, about 10 hours of battery life and an Intel Core i7 processor (which you usually find in an ultrabook or MacBook Pro). And unlike the MacBook, HP didn’t sacrifice too much in order to give us this really thin laptop as it comes with a headphone jack and three USB type-C ports all of which mean that you can charge your laptop and plug in more than one accessory at the same time.
HP dealt with the heat issues associated with making such a slim laptop by installing two fans that blow heat through the back of the device and also installed a heat pipe that helps distribute heat away from the processor.
HP even used a new angular logo on this laptop, which looks a lot better than it more popular circular
The HP Spectre 13 costs $1,170 at the least and is now available for pre-order.
Is HP’s premium laptop as powerful as or more powerful than similar laptops from its competitors?
