Samsung on Wednesday unveiled three new devices, the Galaxy Gear smartwatch, Galaxy Note 3 Phablet and Galaxy Note 10.1 (2014 edition) tablet. Samsung launched its new devices during a colourful Unpacked event at the IFA consumer electronics show in Berlin. It also held a simultaneous event in New York’s Times Square to broadcast the launch for reporters.

Samsung Galaxy GearThe Galaxy Gear Smartwatch runs on Android and syncs with Galaxy smartphones and tablets allowing users to do things like checking emails, text messages, control their music and even receiving calls without having to take the phone out of your pocket. It also has a 320 X 320 super AMOLED screen with 800mHz CPU.

JK Shin, co-CEO and head of Samsung’s mobile business, said during the company’s event, “Our inspiration came from our customers, We listened to you. You said you wanted more options. You wanted to do more with your smartphone. You wanted a bigger screen and bigger input capabilities. The first Galaxy Note was just the beginning. Today we cross a new boundary by pushing higher.”

Samsung Galaxy Note 3The noticeable changes for the devices come in their design; both the Galaxy Note 3 and the Note 10.1 runs on the new Android 4.3 jellybean OS. The camera is 13MP capable of recording 1080p video and the highly expected 4k video recording. Battery life has also improved with the 3200mAh battery.

Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 tablet edition is an upgrade of the Galaxy Tab 3. It is 7.9 mm thick, it is lighter, weighs 535g, and comes in 6 different colours with a 10.1 inch screen. The rear-facing camera clocks in at 8MP, quite unusual for a tablet while the front is 2MP.
