Does the Gionee Marathon M5 6,020mAh battery last four days?

Gionee Marathon M5 is one of the smartphones on the Marathon series which has over time placed emphasis on providing bigger batteries. This time around the M5 still comes with a bigger 6,020mAh battery but it is not all about the battery, it fairs well in other department.

The 6,020mAH battery is undoubtedly a mouthful, however the manufacturers of the Gionee M5 claim that the device lasts longer than any other Smartphone ever made, offers a mouthwatering 682 hours of standby time and about 4 days of active talk time. This claims are paper claims and most time do not come to play during actual use, just as exhibited by so many smartphones.

To make a complete package, the Marathon M5 still boast of a 5.5-inch AMOLED 720 X 1280 pixels HD display, although not full HD, it still delivers a vivid display. It is Dual SIM and runs on Amigo 3.1 UI based on Android 5.1 Lollipop while its metallic finish gives it a premium feel.

There is a 13MP rear camera and a 5MP camera at the front, both taking and producing decent images. Powered by a 1.3GHz quad-core MediaTel processor, 3GB of RAM, 32GB of internal storage which can be expanded up to 128GB among other specs just makes the Marathon M5 a well-balanced smartphone in the hardware category.

While you might want to take the company’s smartphone battery claims with a pinch of salt, it is rather undebatable that a smartphone powered by a 6,020 mAh battery has to offer a great battery life. The M5 can also function as a power bank to charge other phones as well as offer remote control functions for gadgets like TVs and DVD players.

Several comments about the device have been made by many people and they include a touch on display, design and especially the weight which could be as a result of the huge battery it carries.

Here are a few aggregated comments made by people

*It is extra value for money

*The display is crystal clear

*It hardly ever hangs or gets hot

*It’s quite heavy in weight

*The sound would have been better with more bass

*Does not come with the OTG cord to charge multiple devices.

Overall, I think the Gionee M5 is a solid device for people who want performance without a compromise on battery life.

What do you think about the Gionee Marathon M5 and how would you rate it (Over 10)?

  1. This is the first phone I would use where I would have to think painstakingly to remember any of its associated problems….It just goes to show that the phone is awemazing!!!

I don’t know if it lasts for up to 4days but I can say realistically that it lasts me for 2days with active use (chatting, browsing, hotspot and so on).

From my daily use of the phone – I give it 8/10.

  2. Gionee 5M is really a solid smartphone and amazing to use but due to battery its heavy weight…. I rated 8/10…
