CcHub is launching TechSQUAD

Nigeria’s Co-Creation Hub Nigeria has announced the official launch of  TechSQUAD.

As the world goes digital, more and more Nigerian businesses, NGOs and government agencies want to join the wave. Whether to build web platforms, mobile apps or desktop applications to improve their efficiency and reach, the need for local development talent is increasing. Up till now most of the development done by Nigerian organisations is outsourced to other countries taking valuable resources to other markets.

Launched by Co-Creation Hub, Nigeria’s foremost technology innovation centre, TechSquad is a platform which connects Nigerian organisations that operate without a dedicated technical team to vetted local technologists to work on their digital technology projects.

TechSquad provides organisations with access to pre-qualified Project Managers as well as software developers and designers who form adhoc teams from the SQUAD, to work on their projects at reasonable rates.

TechSQUAD is launching with 81 technologists shortlisted from 247 that applied. In this group, we have 14 senior developers and project managers and 67 software developers and designers to work in their teams.

A pilot of TechSQUAD was deployed in the run up to the 2015 general elections and they supported civil sociaty organisations to build technology platforms that played a significant role in the success of the elections. Some of the projects that were developed by TechSQUAD include Nigeria Elections (by Wangonet), ReVoDa (by EiE Nigeria) , ThumbPower (by ThumbPower) and NgManifesto (by CDD West Africa).  A feature of the TechSQUAD was done by CNN on March 26, 2015 and can be viewed here.

TechSQUAD is set to revolutionise the local technology industry as a whole, by providing a seamless way for Nigerian technologists to service local companies, NGOs and government agencies.
