BlackBerry Z30

Why the BlackBerry Z30 stands out amongst other BlackBerry Devices

We all know that BlackBerry is not having the best of times right now, especially with tons of android phones flooding the market. But this hasn’t stopped Blackberry from proving that they still have what it takes to create a unique smartphone users love.

The BlackBerry Z30 smartphone is BlackBerry’s biggest, fastest and most advanced smartphone. It features BlackBerry® 10 OS version 10.2, a touch enabled device, a beautiful 5” super AMOLED display and the largest battery yet on a BlackBerry smartphone.

Design

The BlackBerry Z30 comes in a rectangular shape finished with rounded corners, the blackberry logo placed behind and below the screen in front.

On the right hand side of the device are the Volume controls, pause/play buttons. You also have the Micro-HDMI and Micro USB charging ports on the left side. The headphone jack and power button are placed at the top of the device. The inbuilt speakers are placed at the top and bottom edges of the phone and they sound pretty impressive.

Camera

The BlackBerry Z30 has a 2 megapixels front facing camera and an 8 megapixels rear camera that comes with autofocus, image stabilization and a Led Flash. The BlackBerry Z30 camera quality is not terrible and I think you get a clearer image with the Z30 in a very bright environment. However, in low light conditions, the flash proves impressive.

Screen

The Z30 comes with a 5inch Super Amoled display, 1280 X 720 display, the largest display yet on a Blackberry Smartphone.

Battery

One major reason why I likeThe BlackBerry Z30 is the battery life. It comes with an inbuilt battery of 2,880mAh battery. While using the device I noticed the battery can last for a minimum of 24hrs on normal use which includes web surfing and phone calls. This works just great for me because it means I have no use for a mobile charger as long as the device is fully charged before I leave home.

Memory

The BlackBerry Z30 comes with a 2GB Ram, an internal memory of 16GB and can be expanded with a memory card.

Connectivity

The connectivity options on the BlackBerry Z30 includes quad band LTE, HSPA, and GSM/GPRS/EDGE, Bluetooth 4.0, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n it can also serve as a mobile hotspot.

Software and Interface

The BlackBerry Z30 runs the new BlackBerry 10.2 operating system, which has the BlackBerry Priority Hub that allows you view your most important messages, the 10.2 OS also shows Instant previews of BBM, SMS and Email from any app so you can respond or go to the BlackBerry Hub with a single touch; similar to what you find on the Android and iOS. The BlackBerry Z30 also comes with an inbuilt FM Radio which works with head phones plugged in. The user interface on the BlackBerry Z30 is pretty simple and classic just like the BlackBerry Z10 and Q10.

My Conclusion

Having used the BlackBerry Z30 for almost a month, I must state that it performs way above average, browsing on the device is really fast and the speakers sound great. However, Blackberry needs to work on making navigating through their devices better and more user friendly. BlackBerry still lacks in the area of applications when compared to the android and iOS platforms. Overall, I am really impressed with the battery life of the device because it can take me for a whole day when fully charged. The BlackBerry Z30 smartphone was released in Nigeria on the 8th of November 2013 and the device is presently available in stores Nationwide.
