Aso Villa Demo Day, first ever Nigerian Testathon-TechCity Podcast

Hello there and welcome to another episode of our weekly Techcity podcast with yours truly Ifeoma Nkem-Gbemudu and BellaRose Okojie. Today we’ve got a good number of interesting news stories. But before that, a big thank you to everyone who listens to us via Soundcloud, we appreciate you. But we’ll be even more grateful if you also follow our Soundcloud channel in order to be the first to get our weekly updates as soon as we send them out.

Now, to the news of the day; as long as you’re a Nigerian between the ages of 18-40 years, you’ve got a chance to pitch your tech idea to President Buhari. That’s courtesy the Aso Villa Demo day 2016. A 2-day pitch event where 50 people or teams with tech startup ideas will be chosen for mentorship and financing by the Presidency and interested VCs.

The first ever Testathon in Nigeria is set to hold in Lagos on June 26th. 50 app testers will get together in teams to search for bug in three Facebook apps; Facebook, Messenger and Instagram.

Uber ends UberBlack service in Nigeria and replaces it with UberSelect. No official statement has been given for ending the UberBlack service but I doubt many Uber users will miss it.

Looks like Android users are getting bored of social media as new study shows drop in time spent on such platforms. However the number of people downloading and using the same apps is rising.

All the gist here.
