As for the Samsung Galaxy s8, today is the d-day

I woke up different this morning. My heart raced fast…I was sweating…No, it wasn’t just fear, there was a mix of excitement and fear. Maybe because one of my favourite smartphone manufacturers, Samsung, is launching the much anticipated Samsung Galaxy S8.

For the exciting part, the smatphone will feature Samsung’s new AI assistant, Bixby. This is like a revolution in the world of smartphones, not that the concept of digital assistant is a new thing, but I personally did not see it coming from Samsung. Also, there are rumours that other features include

  • A much narrower bezel and bigger, dual-curved display
  • Ultra-high-def 4K resolution
  • A home button that’s virtual or located on the rear of the phone
  • Facial recognition and/or iris scanning
  • A Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 or Exynos 9 processor (depending on the region)
  • Dual rear cameras
  • Video capture at 1,000 frames per second
  • Headphone jack
  • USB-C port and others.

Now to the scary part…

Just in case some people never heard of Samsung, their Note 7 debacle really brought them into limelight as it was one of the biggest tech ‘disasters’. So now, what really scares me is that I don’t want the whole note 7 palava to happen to this new device. Although Samsung already promised a revised eight-point battery testing procedure, that tiny hint of fear is still creeping in. And I bet I’m not alone, so many people feel it too.

Well, I’ve decided to look at the brighter side of things. And hopefully, Samsung will not disappoint. Meanwhile, we are still keeping our ears to the ground for more on the launch of the Samsung Galaxy S8.
