Android Marshmallow coming to Camon C8

I don’t know if it was weird that I was actually munching on a pack of vanilla flavored marshmallows when TECNO Mobile Nigeria announced that the Android 6.0 Marshmallow will be coming to Camon C8 devices in February, 2016. I was excited because I own a Camon C8 and I know the Marshmallow OS has some pretty amazing features. My colleague at work was quite surprised when I shared my excitement because he had always believed that TECNO phones do not support over the air (OTA) updates. Duh, they do!

This is good news for Phantom 5 users because they will get Marshmallow updates as well. Go team Marshmallow!!!

Anyway, here are some of the many features of the Android 6.0 Marshmallow;

1. App Menu: One amazing feature of the Android Marshmallow is the way the new App Menu works. Instead of swiping horizontally (left and right) through the various pages to access your apps, you can now scroll through vertically (up and down). The best part is the fact that the apps are arranged alphabetically. Not only does this feature make my O.C.D senses tingle, it also allows easier and faster access to your Apps.
2. Doze: We all know how important good battery life is, that is why the Marshmallow has a really cool feature called Doze, which puts your phone apps to sleep when the phone is idle for a long time. This improves standby battery life to up to 2 times which is absolutely phenomenal.
3. Memory: In Marshmallow, the RAM now has its own dedicated settings. You will be able to see exactly where your memory was used in the last 3, 6, 12 and 24 hours without having to install a special app for it. This will improve performance and reduce RAM related problems on any android device.
4. Auto-Backup and Restore for Apps: You know how it is when you get a new phone and you have to start re-installing all the Apps you had on your previous phone? That is something I do NOT like to do! Even though the Lollipop has backup and reset, it is usually incomplete and you will end up losing all the data on the apps and that means you have to start over. Most of us know how hard it is to start over. With the Marshmallow, however, your apps as well as the data are automatically backed up. Therefore, when your apps are restored from your backup onto your new phone, they will be exactly how you left them.
5. App Permission: With Lollipop, whenever you download an app from your play store, you will be required to grant access to different things like your photos, location, calendar etc. If you do not accept to grant access, you will not be able to download the app. Now, for someone like me who is completely paranoid, it might be difficult for me to download apps that are very intrusive. The Marshmallow allows users to deny any permission and still be able to download and use the app. This is good news for me!!!

Overall, the Android 6.0 Marshmallow makes your smart phone even smarter, improves performance, security and privacy.

So Tecno Camon C8 and Phantom 5 users brace yourself because something sweet (pun intented) will hit your phones pretty soon!!!
